Turmeric and black pepper shot

Fresh turmeric, orange and a pinch of heat.

Rico's note: Black pepper and a drop of olive oil are turmeric's classic partners — they round out its earthy flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 piece (2 cm / ¾ in) fresh turmeric, peeled and grated (15 g / ½ oz)
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 small piece fresh ginger, peeled (5 g)
  • a drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil (2 g)
  • freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Method

  1. Grate the turmeric and ginger.
  2. Press them through a fine sieve, or run them through the juicer, to extract the juice.
