Chocolate orange cream

A cooked cocoa cream scented with orange zest, sweetened only with dates.

Rico's note: When you want real chocolate but want to keep things simple, this is the one — ready in 20 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 300 ml (1¼ cups) almond milk
  • 4 tbsp pure cocoa powder (32 g / 1¼ oz)
  • 3 tbsp arrowroot starch (30 g / 1 oz)
  • 5 Medjool dates, blended into a paste (100 g / 3½ oz)
  • 2 oranges, zest only (12 g)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (3 g)

Method

  1. Blend the dates with a little of the almond milk into a paste.
  2. In a saucepan, mix the arrowroot starch with the cocoa powder.
