Values are for the first option listed in the ingredients; substitutions and variations change them. Carbs exclude fiber; energy uses the EU conversion factors (fiber at 2 kcal/g). Quantities and times are a starting point: adjust them to your taste. Two things don't change: poultry and ground meat must be cooked all the way through, and allergens — always check the labels.

Turkey burger with shoestring sweet potatoes

Homemade, leaner than the fast-food version and every bit as flavorful.

Rico's note: Make a bigger batch of burgers and freeze them raw, between sheets of parchment paper, so you can take out one at a time when you need it.

Ingredients

  • 300 g (10½ oz) ground turkey
  • 1 grated onion (60 g / 2 oz)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (6 g)
  • chopped parsley, to taste
  • 1 egg (50 g / 1¾ oz)
  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, cut into thin sticks (360 g / 12½ oz)
  • 1½ tbsp olive oil (15 g / ½ oz)
  • lettuce, tomato and red onion, to taste (150 g / 5½ oz)
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 °C (400 °F).
  2. Mix the ground turkey with the grated onion, garlic, parsley, egg, salt and pepper.
