Values are for the first option listed in the ingredients; substitutions and variations change them. Carbs exclude fiber; energy uses the EU conversion factors (fiber at 2 kcal/g). Quantities and times are a starting point: adjust them to your taste. Two things don't change: poultry and ground meat must be cooked all the way through, and allergens — always check the labels.

Quick apple cinnamon compote

Twenty minutes over low heat and you have compote for days.

Rico's note: Make a big batch on Sunday and use it on oatmeal, on yogurt, or on its own, still warm.

Ingredients

  • 4 reinette apples (800 g / 1¾ lb)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (2 g)
  • ½ lemon, juice only (15 g / ½ oz)
  • 3 tbsp water (45 g / 1½ oz)

Method

  1. Peel the apples and cut them into small cubes.
  2. Toss them right away with the lemon juice so they don't brown.
