Lighter hot dog

A lighter take on the classic, ready in twenty minutes.

Rico's note: Swap Friday's fast food for this homemade version; you won't even notice the difference in flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 whole-wheat hot dog buns (120 g / 4 oz)
  • 2 chicken or turkey sausages (100 g / 3½ oz)
  • 2 reduced-fat cheese slices (40 g / 1½ oz)
  • 20 g (¾ oz) ketchup
  • 10 g mustard
  • chopped onion and pickles, to taste — optional, not counted in the macros

Method

  1. Grill the sausages in a nonstick skillet over medium heat until nicely browned all over, about 8 minutes.
  2. Lightly warm the buns, split in half, in the same skillet.
